Registered Nurse- Community Living Center Temporary NTE 2 Yrs
The Registered Nurse isresponsible forproviding and / or supporting direct patient care. This CLC staff nurse functions as a team leader and charge nurse, self-directed in goal setting for managing complex care. Demonstrates proficiency using the nursing process in providing care to the CLC Veterans with complex needs. Guides and directs others who provide care. Consistently performs comprehensive physical, psychological, and social assessments. Performs and documents reassessments, recognizing changes in condition and re-establishes priority of care. Effectively prioritizes actual and potential problems/needs. Develops and documents resident-centered initial plan of care and updates the plan. Utilizes nursing interventions, which maximize resident's functioning capabilities, recognizing resident's interests and preferences (e.g., safely administers medications, utilizes techniques for management of resident behavior, provision of appropriate activities to enhance psycho-social and physical functioning of resident). Includes resident/family in establishing realistic, measurable goals, planning care and resident education. Implements and documents nursing interventions/orders and physician orders in a timely and accurate manner. Initiates and documents teaching and discharge planning based on resident/family identified needs. Evaluates and documents resident response/progress towards attainment of goals/expected outcomes. Recognizes and effectively intervenes in medical/psychiatric emergencies. Promotes the least restrictive environment that maximizes resident's functional status. Uses resident care equipment in a safe and appropriate manner and assures proper maintenance seeking assistance as necessary. Follows established safety and infection control standards, policies and procedures. Delegates resident care duties and assignments based on resident care needs and competencies of providers. Consistently completes resident care assignments, including documentation, by the end of the tour of duty Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. He/she may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don personal protective equipment (PPE) in providing care to the residents. They may occasionally be exposed to residents who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia or psychiatric disorders. He/she must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on Veteran need.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
