Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for an Accountant at our Butler Works operation.
Accountants are responsible for generating general ledger reports, budget development, and overall preparation and maintenance of accurate and complete records of a general and/or cost accounting nature requiring application of a broad range of accounting techniques and practices.
Summary of
Responsibilities:
Reconcile and balance sales from Accounts Receivable - weekly and month-end closing.
Run, review, and verify Microfocus sales/inventory system jobs used for month-end closing process.
Create journal entries related to manufacturing and general ledger accounting.
Review and create monthly Sales/Use and Real Estate tax entries.
Prepare and distribute general ledger and inventory reports by gathering, recording, and accumulating data.
Interpret accounting results, recognize deviations, analyze causes, and make recommendations for improvements or corrective action.
Create and analyze Volume Price and Cost analysis reports.
Maintain internal control and compliance requirements related to manufacturing accounting activities.
Support the closing, forecasting, and budget processes related to general ledger accounts.
Assist with internal and external audit requests including quarterly and year-end SOX review.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts in Blackline to Oracle general ledger.
Continually improve processes and documentation.
Order and maintain office supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Knowledge of GAAP, month-end closing processes, and account reconciliation procedures.
Exceptional analytical ability, detailed orientation, and commitment to accuracy.
Self-motivated and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Willingness and ability to go into plant as needed which involves wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
Preferred
Qualifications:

years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Oracle general ledger experience.
Microsoft Excel competence.
